He has more than 15 years of experience advising all kinds of companies on indirect taxation issues.
Fernando earned a Law degree at University CEU San Pablo in Madrid, and holds a diploma in EU Law from FH – Pforzheim (Germany). He has a Master Degree (LL.M) in Corporate Taxes from IE Business School (ranked among the best legal Masters degrees in the world).
He is a practising attorney, a member of the Madrid Bar Association (Ilustre Colegio de Abogados de Madrid) and a corporate collaborator registered with the Spanish Tax Authority (Agencia Tributaria), enabling him to act as tax advisor to foreign companies in Spain.
He began his professional career at Ernst & Young, and was co-responsible for the VAT, Customs and Excise duties practice in the Madrid office.
After leaving Ernst & Young, he worked several years as responsible of Indirect Taxation for the southern Europe at one of the world largest and leading telecommunications operators.
He then decided to create his own tax consultancy firm, focusing solely on indirect taxation. At present, Spanish VAT Services is the only alternative in the Spanish market to the major international auditors for all those companies looking for a different kind of advisory service with high quality standards and highly specialised in the field of indirect taxation.
Fernando is a member of the International VAT Association and a frequent speaker at seminars and courses on international VAT and customs and excise duties at various Spanish universities and institutions.
He is also a partner of the VAT Forum CV, a partnership that encompasses a small number of prestigious independent specialists in indirect taxation in Europe. Fernando is a frequent speaker at its conferences, courses, seminars and other events.
He has been named Indirect Tax Leader in the years 2015, 2016 and 2017 by the magazine International Tax Review. He has also been appointed lead attorney in the field of indirect taxation by Chambers and Partners.
He speaks Spanish, English and German.
